In memoriam:  Lillian P. “Billie” Maguire passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022.  Billie was a founding board member of the CAC and remained an Emeritus Director until her death.  Billie embodied all of the qualities of a positive role model and change-maker within the CAC movement. Not only did Billie support the development of the organization, she was also responsible for the creation of the Claremont Graduate University speaker forum on child abuse and the multi-disciplinary work of CACs drawing both professional and lay audiences. Billie took every opportunity to raise awareness about issues of child abuse.  In 2010, the National Children’s Alliance awarded Billie the 2010 Volunteer Leadership Individual Award as a result of her dedication to the CAC. In 2015, the CAC recognized Billie as a “Super Hero” at our “Be a Hero for Children” Gala.  The CAC is grateful for Billie’s dedication to children and her commitment to the CAC.  We will miss her.

Celebrating 17 years of helping children tell their truth

what we do

The Children’s Advocacy Center serves over 700 families per year throughout Los Angeles County. We help provide accurate and truthful information to investigators, clinicians, and other professionals in a safe and comfortable environment for the child. We are a multi-disciplinary non-profit agency that provides recorded forensic interviews in a child-friendly setting to children who may have been abused either physically or sexually, or children who have witnessed violence.

our home

Thank you to the Ahmanson Foundation for a generous grant that has given us the opportunity to get new furniture for the CAC. Thank you to PH Design for designing the new furniture in our waiting rooms!

Pet prescription team

In a further effort to minimize trauma to children, the CAC Board of Directors has approved the use of a therapy dog at the CAC to greet and wait with children and their families!  Therapy dogs empower victims, provide emotional support, and minimize stress, which is consistent with our mission.
